Acne

In adolescents, acne occurs mainly because the body produces more androgens (hormones) during puberty. Among other things, they stimulate the skin to produce more oil. This skin oil (sebum) is produced by the sebaceous glands. If a sebaceous gland is blocked, sebum cannot drain and a pimple develops.

If the pimple becomes inflamed, acne or a pimple forms. If the hormonal balance levels out after puberty, these pimples also disappear in most cases. Since not all young people are affected by acne, genetic factors and the immune system may also be triggers.

Acne can be very different. Dermatologists differentiate between mild, moderate and severe acne. Early and consistent treatment can reduce the severity and frequency of breakouts, reduce scar formation and significantly improve the appearance of the skin.
