Photodynamic therapy

Photodynamic therapy treats skin conditions, including precancerous diseases and specific skin cancers. It applies a photosensitive substance to the affected skin area, selectively absorbed by abnormal or cancerous cells.

A laser or LED light applied to the treated area triggers a photochemical reaction with the photosensitizer, selectively damaging and destroying abnormal or cancerous cells while minimizing harm to surrounding healthy cells. This process aims to eliminate or reduce the extent of precancerous lesions like actinic keratosis and specific skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

Photodynamic therapy is an effective and aesthetically favorable treatment for specific skin conditions, with notable success rates. However, its application necessitates supervision by a dermatologist due to the need for accurate skin condition evaluation before the procedure
